Overview
SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, is one of the premier economic engines in the Valley of the Sun. The project’s success is a direct result of a focus on innovation and technology that attracts companies ranging from some of the world’s best known brands to one- or two-person startups.
These companies come to SkySong because of its strong connection to connection with Arizona State University through ASU SkySong as well as the exceptional facilities and ideal location in Scottsdale. SkySong is close to abundant recreational, residential, cultural and entertainment opportunities and venues, exceptional schools, major transportation corridors, and Sky Harbor International Airport.
The goal of SkySong is to attract cutting-edge and innovative companies and their base of knowledge workers from around the world, integrating the resources of ASU with the opportunities of the private sector. SkySong is a true epicenter of economic activity in the state of Arizona. The 42-acre mixed-use development will include more than 1.2 million square feet upon buildout. SkySong 1, 2, 3 and 4, all approximately 145,000 square foot office buildings, are near full occupancy. Additionally, pre-leasing activity is taking place for SkySong 5, and the SkySong Apartments opened in Fall of 2013 and are currently leasing 1- 2- and 3-bedroom apartments at competitive rates.
The SkySong shade structure has become one of Scottsdale’s most recognized icons. The project is oriented around shaded and landscaped pedestrian scale boulevards with public gathering places and open spaces, water features and bike paths.
Plaza Companies is the Master Developer of SkySong, and the team includes Plaza del Rio Management Corp. as Property and Construction Manager and Lee & Associates as the Brokerage Team. Architects at SkySong include Pei Cobb Fried and Partners, DMJM Design, Butler Design Group, Kendle Design Collaborative, and Gary Todd and Associates. DPR is General Contractor for SkySong 3.

SkySong 1
Building Overview: SkySong 1 is a 150,000 square foot Class A office building that is LEED Silver Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. Located adjacent to the iconic SkySong shade structure, SkySong 1 is currently home to ASU SkySong and a variety of corporate tenants.
Technology: With an exceptional electrical service and fiber-optic system, SkySong is home to a Network Operations Center (NOC) for Century Link Communications, enabling super-fast broadband connections to the Century Link national voice and data networks. Individual users can obtain dedicated fiber optic connections at connection speeds of 100 MBPS, and the local network is capable of providing voice, data, and video with Century Link’s PRISM TV. The system has connectivity to several of the data centers in Phoenix as well as to Century Link’s national fiber optic backbone.
SkySong 2

SkySong 3
Building Overview: SkySong 3 is a 145,000 square foot Class A office building. SkySong 3 is LEED Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. Located adjacent to the iconic SkySong shade structure, SkySong 3 is the home of several innovative and entrepreneurial companies, as well as the ASU Synergy Conference Center and the SkySong Bicycle Center.
Technology: With an exceptional electrical service and fiber-optic system, SkySong is home to a Network Operations Center (NOC) for Century Link, enabling super-fast broadband connections to the Century Link national voice and data networks. Individual users can obtain dedicated fiber optic connections at connection speeds of 100 MBPS, and the local network is capable of providing voice, data, and video with Century Link’s PRISM TV. SkySong 4
Building Overview: SkySong 4 is a 145,000 square foot Class A office building. Like SkySong 1, 2 and 3, SkySong 4 is LEED Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.

SkySong 5
SkySong 5 will be the newest building on the SkySong campus, and wlll bring the total SkySong project to more than 750,000 square feet of commercial office capacity. Construction began in summer 2018.
Located on the northwest corner of the iconic SkySong shade structure, SkySong 5 will be taller than the other commercial office buildings on the campus and slightly larger, at 154,350 square feet and six stories in height. Like the other buildings, it will be constructed to meet LEED certification standards for green building practices.
Preleasing of SkySong 5 is currently underway.
SkySong 6
SkySong 6 will be the next building to be constructed at SkySong. Project architects, Butler Design, Group have created cutting-edge design concepts and renderings for the new building, which will have an imposing presence at the hard corner of Scottsdale and McDowell Roads. A key differentiator of SkySong 6 will be 55,000 square foot floor plates — the largest floor plates built along Scottsdale Road in the past 20 years.
The approximately 340,000 square foot building SkySong 6 building, features floor-to-ceiling glass windows facing out to the intersection of Scottsdale and McDowell Roads. A large public space will be located on the corner, with a second-story balcony overlooking the area. Construction of SkySong 6 will also include a new parking structure to serve the two newest buildings. SkySong 6 will be integrated into the project with significant pedestrian and bike connections designed to promote health and wellness, outdoor gathering and meeting spaces and other state-of-the-art features.
Future Facilities
SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center will feature more than 1.2 million square feet of developed space – and potentially more – at full buildout.
As a result of the project’s exceptional planning and flexibility, a variety of options exist for future build-to-suit construction at SkySong.
Potential build-to-suit opportunities could range from a minimum of 30,000 square feet to as much as 600,000 square feet depending on the needs of the user.

ASU at SkySong
ASU SkySong – and the SkySong project as a whole – came from the vision of ASU’s president, Dr. Michael M. Crow. His commitment to “The New American University” includes a focus on innovation, research and a partnership with the private sector to create opportunities for economic development.

As the cornerstone of SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, ASU SkySong occupies 135,566 square feet of space related to corporate engagement, entrepreneurship, education, technology and innovation.
ASU SkySong is an innovation center designed to help companies grow by providing business services and programs offered or facilitated by ASU. These services support entrepreneurial ventures and established businesses through access to the latest technologies, capital networks and a highly skilled workforce.
As one of the nation’s leading innovation centers, initiatives based at ASU SkySong have been responsible for:
— Over 100 spinout companies that have collectively raised over $600 million in venture capital;
— Creating and launching the nation’s leading summit for education technology, the ASU/GSV Education Innovation Summit;
