Not My Kid is one of the best!

Not My Kid

notMYkid is not a counseling or treatment agency. We are here to offer support, information and options. Destructive youth behaviors do not discriminate and have impacted many lives. A number of resources are available, and we will assist you in finding the help necessary to make informed and empowered choices.

With a vision for every child to reach their full potential through positive life choices, Steve and Debbie Moak co-founded notMYkid in 2000 after battling the substance use disorder of their teenage son. The journey towards their son’s recovery was filled with heartache and regret, as the Moak’s felt that not enough had been done to prevent their son from straying down a destructive path. The first-hand experiences of the Moak’s are what inspired them to develop notMYkid with a simple principle behind its inception; prevention, before intervention.

PROJECT REWIND: AN EARLY INTERVENTION SOLUTION FOR ADOLESCENTS
Project Rewind is a peer-to-peer prevention and early intervention program for teens experiencing mild to moderate problems associated with alcohol and/or other drug use. We believe in strengthening family connection, communication and setting appropriate boundaries to protect and support our youth in making positive life choices. Parent involvement is a requirement of the program to achieve the best outcomes possible for participating families.

We take a proactive approach to early intervention when dealing with problematic issues teens face as a result of substance abuse. The overarching goal of the program is to deter experimenters from becoming regular users.

We have developed a dynamic and engaging platform, utilizing our peer-to-peer model, to address the impact of substance abuse on the individual teen, academics, friendships, employment, and relations with family and loved ones. All drugs of abuse addressed include: alcohol; smoking/vaping; marijuana; prescription pill misuse/abuse; club drugs/synthetics; and illicit street drugs. A portion of the curriculum is also dedicated to cyber safety and online digital behavior.

Participants explore risk factors associated with substance abuse, engaging teens in internalizing consequences of use, overcoming peer pressure, assessing and motivating change, practicing positive coping skills, effective communication, and looking ahead to a positive and healthy future.

CORPORATE WELLNESS
Make saving lives the business of your business.

One of the greatest hidden influences on workplace productivity is the distraction of family issues. Studies show that distressed and distracted employees spend more than 1/3 of their time at work being unproductive. notMYkid’s Corporate Wellness program can help!

We offer employees valuable information about youth substance use/abuse, vaping, bullying, depression/self-injury/suicide, and internet safety. This adult education program is designed to help employees identify, understand, and respond to the presence or impact of destructive youth behaviors. Corporate Wellness is also an excellent way for employers to communicate their investment in their employees’ well-being, and to reduce the pre-occupation and presenteeism caused by familial distress.

On-Site Employee Education & Training
notMYkid Prevention Specialists team up with local experts and law enforcement agencies to educate on current trends, warning signs, prevention and intervention strategies.

Our seasoned team of prevention experts are trainers of nationally recognized programs in suicide alertness and intervention which include: SafeTalk, ASIST and Mental Health First Aid. SCHEDULE A PRESENTATION
The challenges kids and families face today are complex and have the potential to devastate lives and derail futures. The average age a child will first try drugs across the country is 13. Studies indicate that people who reach 21 without engaging in destructive behaviors are likely to never do so, which is why we passionately educate about current trends, warning signs, and the long-term impact of destructive behaviors. We believe proactive prevention on the part of children, families, and communities is the answer to long-term success.
